Pineapple Stencil

Stencil image measures: 6” x 8”.

Our Pineapple Welcome Stencil is the traditional welcome of Early American homes and holidays. This durable stencil is easy to use for signs, a welcome mat, walls and much more. We think this stencil will be useful for Christmas gifts.

This is a single overlay stencil. Stencil is shown in multiple colors and looks great when stenciled in a single color, too.

History of the Pineapple Welcome

This curious fruit was first encountered by Europeans when Christopher Columbus, in November of 1943, went ashore to inspect a deserted Caribbean village. This was during his second voyage to the Caribbean.

In this village his crew found piles of freshly gathered vegetables and fruits, including pineapples. It was named the "pineapple" because it had an abrasive, segmented exterior like a pine cone and firm pulp like an apple.

The fruit became an instant celebrity among royalty and horticulturists alike. They were so uncommon and coveted that they became symbolic of royal privilege.

It gradually became the visual keystone of affluent feasts. The image of the pineapple came to represent a sense of welcome, good cheer, and human warmth.

This symbol of friendship and hospitality will always remain with us to represent health, happiness, and good times.
